Spiritual Mentors/Friends in Our Journey to God

Sr. Miriam Schmitt

Sr. Miriam Schmitt, O.S.B., is a liturgist, author, spiritual and retreat director, and lecturer in the field of Christian spirituality, monasticism, and medieval mysticism.  These sessions each focus on a different spiritual mentor/soul friend in our journey of transformation in Christ.  The mentors will be related to varied spiritual disciplines to be pondered and practiced.

Feasting on the Word: Biblical Reflections for the Spiritual Life

Dr. Susan Calef

Susan Calef is an Assistant Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at Creighton University.  In addition to teaching, she has been a campus minister, retreat director, spiritual director and performed social ministries in the inner-city and Appalachia.  Using the story of scripture and her extensive knowledge of the culture and society of Biblical times, these sessions draw refreshment and food for the spiritual journey in all of its seasons.

The Nebraska Five Day Academy for Spiritual Formation is sponsored by the Board of Laity and Discipleship of the Nebraska United Methodist Annual Conference under the authority of The Upper Room.
