| The Inward/Outward Journey of Spiritual FormationRev Charles R. GipsonSpiritual formation is both an inward journey and an outward journey, and neither may be ignored if we are true to the spirituality of Jesus. Explorations include the challenge of balancing the inward and outward journey, the biblical concepts of gift and call as a bridge between the two, the "consciousness of Christ" as an inward fountain of outward journey, and people who have embodied the inward/outward journey in our time. Charles Gipson retired in 2000 after 39 years in pastoral ministry in the United Methodist Church. He is the author of The Three-Year Covenant Community for Spiritual Formation and is director of Willow Pond Retreat, a private ministry adjacent to his home near Evansville, Indiana.
