Prayer and Spiritual Friendship

Elizabeth Canham

How do we grow in the life of prayer? Where can we find support and accountability for our spiritual journey? This course will offer experience with prayer models and insights into prayer and personality. Rev. Elizabeth Canham is a priest in the Episcopal Church and former seminary professor of Biblical studies in London, UK. She is a writer, retreat leader, teacher, spiritual director and avid Scrabble player. Heart Whispers and A Table of Delight are her two books in print and a new book Ask the Animals will be published fall 2006.

The Spirituality of Jesus in the Gospel of John

Bill Mallard

Rev. Bill Mallard is an ordained elder in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 1957 he joined the faculty at Candler at Emory where he remained until his retirement in 2000. His books include The Reflection of Theology in Literature and Language and Love: Introducing Augustine’s Religious Thought through the Confessions Story. Happily, he is much more engaging, inspiring and enjoyable in person than either of his books sound.  Come join this wonderful scholar in an exploration of this most mystical and theological of the Gospels and what it can reveal about Jesus and his relationship with the creator God.
