Faith At Work

Stephanie Ford

Stephanie calls North Carolina her home, although she grew up in a variety of places. Likewise, though rooted in the Baptist tradition, Stephanie has been fed by Methodist, Catholic, charismatic, Episcopal, and Quaker streams. For several years, Stephanie taught English as a Foreign Language to college students; then in 1994, she felt called to study Christian spirituality, first in seminary and then in doctoral studies. At Catholic University, she had the opportunity to drink deeply from the well of our shared Christian heritage in the Catholic spiritual tradition. Currently, Stephanie is teaching Christian Spirituality at the Earlham School of Religion, a Quaker seminary in Indiana. She teaches on topics of prayer, spiritual direction, the history of Christian spirituality, small group guidance, and the relationship of spirituality to the body. Her first book, Kindred Souls: Connecting through Spiritual Friendship, was published by Upper Room Books in 2006. Stephanie has also written for Weavings and enjoyed serving as a faculty presenter at several Academy for Spiritual Formation sessions. She is married and has a little girl, Deepmala.
